Phoenix Dactylifera - Medjool Date Palm NOT?
I have purchased 4 of them in January 2007 from a
TyTy nursery in Georgia
at $20 each. As per nursery info these are 1 year old Phoenix
Dactylifera that were
shipped to me bare rooted and despite some damage to the leaves
they seem fine.
Please HELP identify (verify) that these really are Phoenix
Dactylifera (Medjool Date Palm).
I have posted some photos of the baby palms for identification
and educational purposes. All

I made the following 7 pictures right after receiving and
planting them in pots.

UPDATE (May 2008). I bought four (4) one year old MEDJOOL DATE
PALM TREES from TY TY NURSERY
in DEC. 2006. They arrived several days later in January 2007.
What arrived were not so healthy looking plants, wrapped
in paper, bare-rooted, not in pots, definitely not Medjool
looking palms (I only realised that now!). No promised planting
instructions nor planting guide. I saw how MEDJOOL palms 1 year
olds look like, nothing like the ones they sent me.
Even more: the "Order Form" is cut off roughly with a
knife or dull scissors right under the GUARANTEE text on the
invoice, so I can see there was signature which is cut off. This
is 1,5 year later. I maybe wasted 1,5 years
growing WRONG PALMS!?
I took the following pictures in May 2008 after
growing the 4 for about a year in ground in Northern Orangeburg
County,
South Carolina: Do you think these are MEDJOOL DATE PALMS (Phoenix
Dactylifera). They must be over 2 years old now.
Some pictures are large to better dentify them. Your opinions are
greatly appreciated!

ATTENTION! THIS IS SOMEONE ELSE'S PHOTO FROM
ANOTHER NURSERY. THIS IS THEIR MEDJOOL PALMS DEPICTED:
